Published 2026 figures for an app built in Egypt run from about EGP 15,000 to more than EGP 25 million. They aren’t contradicting each other so much as describing different sellers — a freelancer, an established local agency and an international firm quoting for Egyptian clients. The useful questions are what is included, who builds it, and what it will cost to run after launch.
These are market figures from published sources, not our price list. We don’t publish prices because the same project is priced differently in Egypt, the Gulf and the US — our project estimator shows the timeline and team for your scope, and we send the price for your market directly.
What published sources say (2026)
| Source | Entry-level app | Mid-complexity app | Complex / large platform |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geexar (2026) | EGP 15,000–50,000 | EGP 50,000–150,000 | From EGP 150,000; large platforms EGP 200,000 to over 1,000,000 |
| Appinventiv (Sept 2026) | Prototype EGP 2–3.5M; focused MVP EGP 3.5–6M | EGP 6–12M | EGP 12–20M; regulated/enterprise EGP 20–25M+ |
Hourly rates are the other public signal. Appinventiv cites $15–25 an hour for junior developers in Egypt, $25–40 for mid-level and $40–60 for senior. On Clutch, most of the top-ranked app developers in Egypt list $25–49 an hour, with minimum project sizes from $10,000 to $50,000 and up.
Why the numbers disagree
- Different sellers. A freelancer or a small shop reusing a template quotes the bottom of the range; an agency with designers, backend engineers, QA and a project manager quotes the middle; international firms quote the top.
- Different definitions of “an app”. Some figures cover the mobile app only. Others include the backend, the admin panel, design, testing, store submission and launch support.
- Different quality bars. Proper Arabic and English, security, automated tests and documentation all take time — and all are invisible in a demo.
What actually drives the price
- How many platforms: iOS and Android from one codebase, a customer web app, an admin panel, a website.
- How many types of user — customer, sales rep, supplier, admin — each with its own screens and permissions.
- The expensive features: online payments, integrations with an ERP or the ETA e-invoicing system, real-time tracking, chat, AI features, offline mode.
- Design: whether you have designs, a brand to design from, or nothing yet.
- Arabic done properly: right-to-left layouts, Arabic typography, and copy written rather than translated.
- A new product or a rebuild — replacing an existing system adds discovery and data migration.
Don’t forget the cost of running it
The build is not the last bill. Hosting, third-party services, OS and library updates, fixes and small features continue as long as the app is live. One regional agency puts annual maintenance at 15–20% of the build cost; ask every company you talk to what their support plans include.
How to compare quotes like for like
- Ask each company for the same list of what’s included: design, mobile app, backend, admin panel, testing, store submission, launch support.
- Ask who builds it — in-house team or subcontractors — and for a live product you can open.
- Ask what a change request costs and how it is decided.
- Ask whose name the code, cloud account and store listings are in.
- Ask what support after launch costs per month.
How long it takes
Time is easier to pin down than price. A typical business app — iOS and Android with an admin panel, two types of user, Arabic and English — takes us about 11 to 15 weeks from first workshop to launch. Our project estimator gives a range for your own scope and shows which features add the most time.
Common questions
- How much does a simple app cost in Egypt?
- Published 2026 figures range from about EGP 15,000–50,000 at the low end of the market to EGP 2–6 million for a prototype or focused MVP from an international agency. The difference is mostly who builds it and what is included.
- Why don’t you publish your prices?
- Because the same scope is priced differently in Egypt, the Gulf and the US. Our estimator shows the timeline and team for your project; send it to us and we reply with the price for your market.
- How much does it cost to maintain an app?
- Plan for an ongoing cost every year the app is live — one regional agency estimates 15–20% of the build cost annually. It covers hosting, updates for new OS versions, fixes and small features.
