Context

Where things stood.

Nabd is a cardiology and pediatric cardiology practice with branches in El Shorouk and Benha. Three consultants cover adult cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and congenital heart disease in children.

Almost nobody arrives at a cardiology site casually. It is a parent who has just been told their child has a murmur, or an adult sent for a test they cannot pronounce. The site had to answer those people before it tried to impress anyone.

Challenge

What we were asked to solve.

A clinic site usually fails in two specific ways: it cannot tell you whether anyone is there right now, and it buries the phone number. Nabd runs 4pm to 10pm, Saturday to Thursday, across two branches with different numbers — "contact us" is useless without that context.

The audience reads Arabic first, but the credentials that matter are European — RCPCH, AEPC, EACVI, ESC, EAPCI. Both had to survive: Arabic as the primary language, with the qualifications intact rather than softened into vague reassurance.

Approach

How we built it.

Arabic is the default locale and English the alternate, with hreflang on every page. The Arabic build is the primary one; English is a real translation of it, not a fallback the Arabic was squeezed into.

Every branch carries a live open/closed state computed against its real opening hours, with that branch's phone number and a WhatsApp link beside it, so the next step is always one tap from wherever the visitor landed.

Built as a static Astro site behind Cloudflare. A clinic page has to load on mobile data in a waiting room, and a practice of three doctors should not be maintaining a CMS or patching a server.

Key features

What shipped.

  • Live branch status

Each branch shows open or closed against its actual hours — Saturday to Thursday, 4pm to 10pm — so nobody drives to a dark clinic or calls a phone that will not be answered.

  • Consultants, with the credentials kept

A page per doctor: years in practice, society memberships and European accreditations spelled out, and the procedures each one actually performs.

  • Conditions and tests in plain words

Congenital disease, arrhythmia, coronary disease, heart-muscle weakness and valves — alongside what an ECG, an echo and a 24–72 hour Holter each actually tell the doctor.

  • “Ask, and be reassured”

A patient-education library of short videos and articles answering what parents ask in clinic every day: what a murmur means, whether chest pain is worrying, what a PFO is.

  • Arabic-first bilingual

Arabic is the default locale, English the alternate, hreflang on every page and RTL throughout — the way a clinic in Egypt is actually read.
